1. Purpose of This Statement
Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, customers purchasing digital goods must explicitly acknowledge the loss of the 14-day withdrawal right before download or streaming begins. This document provides the legally required wording.
2. Mandatory Checkbox Displayed at Checkout
Before completing a purchase of a digital book, customers in the EU or UK must tick a checkbox containing the following text:
“I understand that by clicking ‘Complete Purchase’ I am giving my express consent to receive the digital content immediately, and I acknowledge that I will lose my statutory right to withdraw from this purchase once the download or streaming begins.”
3. Effect of Acknowledgement
By selecting this checkbox, customers waive their 14-day cooling-off period for digital goods. This waiver does not affect rights relating to defective or inaccessible digital products.
4. Application to All Digital Purchases
This notice applies to all digital books, e-books, and downloadable materials sold through our platform. The waiver is required by law and cannot be removed or bypassed for EU/UK customers.
5. Confirmation in Order Email
To support compliance, the confirmation email sent to EU/UK customers includes a statement noting that they agreed to immediate delivery and accepted the loss of the withdrawal right.
